Ruth Oldenziel is a historian, Americanist, and writer. She holds a position as professor at the Technical University Eindhoven and received her PhD from Yale University in American History after her degrees in American Studies at Smith College (MA) and history at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (MA) and the University of Amsterdam (BA/MA). She held fellowships at Hagley Museum and Library, the Smithsonian Institution, Lemelson Center, Georgetown University, NIAS and the LMU Rachel Carson Center. Her publications include books and articles in the area of American, gender and technology studies. Oldenziel regularly comments on American issues for Dutch radio, TV, and print media, lectures on the subject for a general audience, sits on the board for the Fulbright Center, the Netherlands American Studies Association as well as the advisory board of the Ivy League Circle, and is the former chair of Humanity in Action, The Netherlands (2006-2010).
