The first female Secretary of State in United States history was born Marie Jana Korbelová in Prague in 1937. When she was two years old, her family fled the Nazi threat and escaped to England–for political reasons, she was told. Only later did she learn that she was in fact Jewish.

After a stellar career as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and ultimately Secretary of State to President Bill Clinton, Albright has returned to her childhood, and the events that formed her life path and worldview: her family life under the specter of Nazism, and the creation of the postwar world.

The Los Angeles Times called the book “a riveting tale.” Madeleine Albright also visited the John Adams Institute in 2018, 2008, 2006 and 2003.

This event was sponsored by Insinger de Beaufort.
