Mieke holds a Master of Arts degree from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. For twelve years, she worked as a personal assistant to the artistic director of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, where she was responsible for organizing auditions and masterclasses and performed a variety of administrative tasks. Mieke has a broad interest in history and culture and enjoys travelling, exhibitions, movies and reading. Her fascination for the history and politics of the United States makes her visit the country regularly.
