Pieter Steinz reviews ‘Purity’ by Jonathan Franzen. Read the review (in Dutch) here. According to Steinz, Franzen is at its best when describing the difficult relationships between parents and their children. Steinz dislikes the “sometimes too detailed reflections on the destruction of the environment, the decline of journalism, and the rottenness of the literary world”. These are speculations which according to Steinz seem to come from the author himself rather than from the characters.
