On Dec. 11, James Wood, author of How Fiction Works (2008), will give a lecture for the fourth edition of Gidslezing in the Rode Hoed. Wood is one of the most prominent literary critics in the English-speaking world. He writes for the New Yorker and the London Review of Books and is a Professor of the Practice of Literary Criticism at Harvard. In the lecture, Wood will talk about the works of Chekhov, Saul Bellow, Tolstoy, and Knausgård, among others, as well as his own work and memories from childhood.
