Theo Padnos: prisoner of Al-Qaeda

On February 19 at De Balie, American journalist Theo Padnos will be interviewed about his experience of being kidnapped, tortured and eventually released by Al-Nusra Front, a group tied to Al-Qaeda. He was held prisoner for 22 months and wrote about his time in captivity in an article for the New York Times.



American journalist Theo Padnos was held captive for 22 months by the Al-Nusra Front, a group tied to Al-Qaeda. He wrote about this experience in the article entitled “My Captivity” in The New York Times, which was translated into Dutch for 360 magazine. On 19 February at De Balie, Dutch journalist and former US correspondent Eelco Bosch van Rosenthal will interview Padnos about the article and about the future of journalism in general.
