Hudson’s “Halve Maen” in Hoorn

From May 30th on, a replica of the VOC ship “Halve Maen,” on which Henry Hudson discovered the island of Manhattan in 1609, will be on public display at the Westfries Museum in Hoorn.

Starting May 30th, a replica of the VOC ship Half Moon (“Halve Maen”)  will be on display at the Westfries Museum in Hoorn. The ship is a full-scale, operating replica of the Dutch ship of exploration that Henry Hudson sailed in 1609, and is on loan from the New Netherland Museum in the US.  Visitors to the Westfries museum will be able to take a 45 minute tour around the ship. Additionally, the Halve Maen is fully seaworthy and will take part in SAIL Amsterdam 2015 next August.
