The brass band DSS from Aarlanderveen, near Amsterdam, is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. It is celebrating this milestone by participating in the national competition for brass bands, and it hopes to win with this original composition. The soprano Fenna Ograjensek will sing the text of Whitman’s poem from Leaves of Grass, which appeared in 1855.
