Jeff Kinney, American cartoonist, designer of online games and author of children’s books, including the immensely successful Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series will visit bookstores in Leeuwarden and The Hague on 4 and 5 December. Diary of a Wimpy Kid is about a middle-school weakling named Greg Heffley. In May 2004, an online version of the story was realeased. The website made daily entries until June 2005. Kinney worked on his book for almost eight years, before showing it to a publisher in New York after which it was turned into a print series. The book became an instant hit, with the online version receiving about 20 million views as of 2007. To date, sixteen Wimpy Kid books have been released.
